Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection. An anonymized email hash may be sent to Gravatar to check if you’re using it. After comment approval, your profile picture will be publicly visible with your comment.

For more, see the Gravatar privacy policy: Gravatar Privacy Policy.

Cookies

When you leave a comment, you can opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies for one year, so you don’t have to re-enter them. Visiting our login page sets a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies, which is deleted upon closing your browser.

When you log in, cookies are set to save login info (lasting two days) and display preferences (lasting one year). Choosing “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies. Editing or publishing an article sets a one-day cookie storing the article ID.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos or images) from other websites, which may collect your data, use cookies, and track your interactions as if you visited their site directly, especially if you’re logged into those sites.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
